Eochaill - 24mm. Stabilised, Ancient Irish Bog Yew - Brass and Iron Inlays

€140.00
sold out

Please note: This is the listing for a shaving brush handle only. If you want to purchase complete brush, please add shaving brush knot to your order.

This shaving brush handle was made with Ancient Irish Bog Yew wood. Wood comes from the trees that fell thousands of years ago and became naturally preserved in Ireland’s peat bogs. Ancient Irish Bog yew is among the rarest types of bog wood found in Ireland, with some specimens carbon-dated to be between 4,000 and 4,800 years old, and occasionally even older.

The Natural voids in the wood were filled with Brass and Iron inlays.

Wood stabilizing is a process used to enhance the durability and stability of wood by making it more resistant to environmental factors like moisture and temperature changes. This technique involves placing the wood in a vacuum chamber to remove air and moisture, then introducing a stabilizing resin under pressure. I stabilise wood myself in my workshop.

Handle Material:  Stabilised Ancient Irish Bog Yew tree.
Handle height: 62mm
Handle diameter: 47mm at the widest point
Knot socket diameter: 24mm
Knot socket depth: 16mm

All measurements are approximate.
