- Stabilised, Dunfierth Chestnut- Bonze, Copper and Iron Inlays.

€140.00
sold out

Please note: This is the listing for a shaving brush handle only. If you want to purchase complete brush, please add shaving brush knot to your order.

This shaving brush handle was made of a fallen 200 year old Chestnut tree that grew close to the ruins of 1500 Dunfierth Church and Graveyard located in County􀂮 Kildare, Ireland. Natural voids in the wood were filled with Copper and Iron inlays.

Wood stabilizing is a process used to enhance the durability and stability of wood by making it more resistant to environmental factors like moisture and temperature changes. This technique involves placing the wood in a vacuum chamber to remove air and moisture, then introducing a stabilizing resin under pressure. I stabilise wood myself in my workshop.

Handle Material:  Stabilised Dunfierth Chestnut tree.
Handle height: 53mm
Handle diameter: 41mm at the widest point
Knot socket diameter: 24mm
Knot socket depth: 14.5mm

All measurements are approximate.

This handle was specially made to fit 24mm Semogue Finest Two Band Badger knot. I've long admired the craftsmanship of Semogue brushes from Portugal. This family-owned workshop has been creating exceptional shaving brushes since 1955 in the town of São João da Madeira, Portugal's traditional center of brush making. I've been honoured with the possibility of using their premium badger knots in my own creations. This collaboration allows me to combine their generations of Portuguese brush-making expertise with my handles.
