Please note: This is the listing for a shaving brush handle only. If you want to purchase complete brush, please add shaving brush knot to your order.
This shaving Brush Handle is made of beautiful stabilised, Ancient Irish Bog Oak. The Ancient Irish Bog Oak wood in this brush is approximately 2000-3000 years old, preserved naturally in the peat bogs of County Westmeath. Ireland. These gigantic Oak trees fell during the early Neolithic period and have been perfectly preserved underground for millennia. Natural voids in the wood were filled with brass and Iron inlays.
Wood stabilizing is a process used to enhance the durability and stability of wood by making it more resistant to environmental factors like moisture and temperature changes. This technique involves placing the wood in a vacuum chamber to remove air and moisture, then introducing a stabilizing resin under pressure. I stabilise wood myself in my workshop.
This handle was specially made to fit 24mm Semogue Finest Two Band Badger knot. I've long admired the craftsmanship of Semogue brushes from Portugal. This family-owned workshop has been creating exceptional shaving brushes since 1955 in the town of São João da Madeira, Portugal's traditional center of brush making. I've been honoured with the possibility of using their premium badger knots in my own creations. This collaboration allows me to combine their generations of Portuguese brush-making expertise with my handles.
